My first career was with the United States Army. My first experience with tax preparation was with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program when I was a Second Lieutenant stationed with the 8th Infantry Division in Germany. Believe it or not, I enjoyed the process of preparing income tax returns! Nineteen years later as my time in the Army was winding down I decided to pursue the certified public accounting profession. I hold a CPA license in good standing with both Virginia and Kentucky and am also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER © Professional.
I am married to Sue, an Army Physical Therapist. We have two children. Mitchell is a student in the College of Engineering at Virginia Tech and Shelby is a high school junior at Chantilly High School. We have a dog, Louie, that quite frankly runs the house.
When I passed the CPA exam I made a vow to donate 10% of gross revenue I earned as a CPA to my church. If you decide to hire me as your tax preparer, one question I'll ask is if you have a preferred charitable organization. If you do I will send 10% of the fee you pay me to that charity.
